THE MILLENNIAL MELTDOWN
I was thinking that as millennials, we put so much pressure on ourselves to find the right job by your mid-twenties and, perhaps, start grinding in the career path we chose for ourselves. But sometimes you turn 25 and, might, still do not know what you’d like to do with your career.
As for anything there are multiple reasons why this happens:
The right job has not magically appeared
You suddenly changed career as what you thought was your dream was actually a nightmare
You still are indecisive about the area you want to specialise because you can’t afford to work for free
...So you wait, opportunities pass by.
Because of all these opportunities coming around at the wrong time, you really feel like shit, this is not even factoring that if you are in a city like London you are most likely still sharing a flat with a bunch of strangers in an overpriced room which you are not 100% happy with.
And your dating life needs it’s own blog post because it could take a long time for you to get through how hard it is to find your ways around life after being dumped or dumping someone who has been a central aspect of your life (!!).
So why do we put ourselves through so much pressure? We have masters and we have so many more opportunities than the ones that were present in the past, yet we are not able to make sense of it because let’s be honest: Adulting is the scariest thing in the world and although we read manuals on how to make sense of this mayhem, there is no right or wrong way, there is your own way and that should be your compass. Because, unfortunately, doing things like everybody else does not always help. We should always remember that there’s no one else like us, so our unique way of doing adulting may not look right to others but is definitely the right path for our own journey of discovery.
So don’t stop, don’t compare yourself to others, because that’s when you start doing your adulting process wrong, and we don’t want that.
Until the next time.
Take care of you babe.
